Everyone at IPNE is excited to again have a booth at the Boston Book Festival (BBF) on Saturday, Oct. 25 in downtown Boston. What's even more terrific is that even though self-publishers are not allowed as solo exhibitors, IPNE can represent self-published members' books at this important event. And unless you want to have an author signing (see details below), you don't have to be at the booth at all. You don't even have to be in Boston!

The Boston Book Festival, now in its 6th year, is the largest literary event in New England. On October 25, rain or shine, Copley Square will be teeming with world-renowned authors and other luminaries, agents, workshops and events, exhibitors, live music, booksellers and book signings, activities and presentations for children. The audience should be in the tens of thousands according to the BBF, "25,000 readers" are expected!

We are offering on a first-come/first served, limited basis, a special space where IPNE member authors & publishers can 1) display a book; and/or 2) reserve a one-hour block of time for a "Sit, Sign & Sell" session. Because the BBF is so well attended, it’s a special opportunity to sell your books directly to the public and interact with your readers. We are providing four sessions per hour between the hours of 10 am and 3 pm. We will try to accommodate your preferences, but final scheduling is at the show manager's discretion.

FEES for BBF

  • $20 to display one title. You'll need to send 2 copies of your book and collateral materials* by Oct. 10 to Steve Porter, Stillwater River Publications, 63 Sawmill Road, Chepachet, RI 02814.You can also bring your books to the Festival, but please notify Steve by Oct. 10. *Up to 100 sheets, up to 8.5x11 inches
  • $35 Sit, Sign & Sell. We'll run 16 signing & sales sessions (2 concurrently per table). This option includes book display for the rest of the day. Sessions will run on the hour from 10am-3pm. Bring as many books as you think you can sell and/or take back with you!

Every book fair is unique and we can't predict what genres might be popular with this year's Boston Book Festival attendees. Based on past years' experience, children's books, local tourist/regional titles, and mysteries often draw the most interest.

SO DON'T WAIT!

It's important to register early to claim one of the 16 first-come, first-served Sit, Sign & Sell spots or by Oct. 10 for a display-only spot. Once registered, we will follow up with information about setup, volunteering, and other details.

FAQ: For questions not covered here, please contact show manager, Steven R. Porter. Any books remaining in the booth at the close of the show will be donated to a library or literacy campaign. To see what’s happening for the entire Boston Book Festival, check their site regularly.
