I think all of us who participated agree that our fifth year as exhibitors at the New England Library Association show was a big success.
Our goal was to introduce IPNE, a sampling of representative books, and some of our friendly publishers, to librarians at NELA, and to make it easy for them to buy books when they're ready. (There were 525 attendees at the show)
This year we took two tables (up from 1 last year) in order to make room for all of our books - the 13 books we welcomed from members of other IBPA affiliates and 40 books from 28 IPNE members displayed on racks in front of IPNE's and IBPA's banners right at the entrance to the hall.
A sign of how busy we were is that we went through our initial run of 100 catalogs by early on Monday 10/17. Charlotte got another 75 printed to bring to us by mid-afternoon. (Thank you Charlotte!) Just before the show closed at 1:00pm on Tuesday, we had handed out every last catalog - one at a time with a smile, and an encouragement to check out the books!
We've already signed up for two tables at NELA 2011 in Burlington, VT October 2-4. They'll be at the end of the aisle that leads to the coffee and refreshments - another good location! Put it on your calendar. We'll get an invitation out to the IBPA affiliates and our members in late summer of 2011.
