IPNE's 2016 New England Publishing Conference

IPNE's 2016 New England Publishing Conference is set for Oct. 21 and 22 at the Sheraton Harborside in scenic and historic Portsmouth, NH. Registration opens Feb. 15 and - you heard it here first - you'll be very glad you registered early!

We are especially excited about this year's theme, Collaboration Is the New Competition. We're planning a special collaborator-matching program at the Conference. How do you collaborate to produce, publish, and market your books? Let us know!

Drop-In Office Hours, 10 AM

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage and drop in via video or audio daily, starting at 10 am. Invite a friend or colleague by sharing the link! (details). IPNE members are welcome to use the conference line at any time.

If the Office Hours room is empty when you arrive, invite a colleague or one of the IPNE board team by email. Please let us know if you notice any inappropriate use of the room.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we'll start the Office Hoursby brainstorming the theme of the week for IPNE's Ask the Experts on Thursdays at 10 am, live streaming here and on our YouTube channel. On the "shoulder days" of Monday and Friday, we'll be less formal.

Regional Meetups

Board member Brian Jud (CT/RI), along with members like David Chase and Glenna Collett (NH), Crystal Ponti (Maine), and Jerry Johnson (VT) have begun reaching out to members to build regional groups, but they need to you to let them know you're interested. Contact Brian if you'd like to request an IPNE branch in your neighborhood and we'll hitch up the wagon and send a representative and materials!

Registrations for coop marketing and educational events will open on a rolling basis starting in May. You'll be able to register early for the Big Three (see *) and get a 3-mo. membership extension; add the **Annual Conference for a 6-mo. extension.       Congratulations to our new Board members!

      Your new Board is hitting the ground running, with several new members bringing energy and expertise to new and ongoing  IPNE projects and programs.

      Elected Dec. 5 at a dynamic and productive Annual Meeting were new candidates, serving 2016-2018: Elizabeth Lorayne, Jenny Putnam, Maria Kamoulakou-Marangoudakis, Mariana Llanos, Karen Einstein. Incumbents, serving 2016-2018: Brian Jud, Charlotte Pierce. Incumbent, serving 2015-2017: Paul Parisi. Retiring from the board with our deep gratitude are Ruth Crocker, Crystal Ponti, and Christine Frost. Members are elected to serve for two years, and may be re-elected for additional terms (see About Us).

      At our first meeting and Board orientation on Jan. 30, we'll be reviewing IPNE's slate of member benefits and planning for 2016 events. Members will be invited to give input and talk to us in an open session during the orientation.

      Conference & Fall - It's a Wrap!

      THIS JUST IN: Conference attendees may now access several of the 2015 Annual Conference speaker presentations; and more are on the way! 


      WHEW! WHAT A FALL! After a dynamic 5th Annual Conference on Sept. 25-26, then hobnobbing with bookstore buyers at the New England Independent Booksellers show on Oct. 8, we presented 45 member authors & publishers at the Oct. 24 Boston Book Festival, which attracted thousands of avid readers to Boston's historic Copley Square. At the BBF, a record 26 authors signed books, and IPNE member J Bruce Jones recorded 7 author interviews. Close on the heels of the BBF, Tordis Ilg Isselhardt and 13 IPNE member volunteers worked on behalf of more than 35 member exhibitors at a very successful New England Library Association conference on Oct. 26-28. "NELA attendance was dramatically up this year," said Isselhardt, at about 600 book-loving librarians. More than 300 Fall 2015 Catalogs with accompanying show-specific inserts were distributed at all three events. Conference attendees received a direct mailing of the catalog courtesy of IPNE sponsor, HF Group, headed by board member and treasurer, Paul Parisi.

      Important TIP: Update your IPNE profile!

      Since all members are listed in the IPNE Catalog, it's important to make sure your IPNE profile is up-to-date with book cover, profile image, and all requested book data so that the booksellers, librarians, and book festival attendees can quickly access your ordering information. We've recently added fields for basic book metadata to simplify promotions and catalog production. More fields will be added later; send us your suggestions!
